SHE WALKS is a collaborative project created by theatre maker Emmie Alderson and poet Thalaya Darr. It is a conversation between two women, two artists about what it means to walk, to walk as women and as artists. Our collaboration is concerned with examining autobiography and place, walking's creative potential and women relationship to walking and occupation of public space.
Currently SHE WALKS is in the early stages of development. So far the project has comprised of a walk around Burnley, new poems, written reflections about the Burnley Walk and a physical handwritten map exploring our own personal relationship to walking. These early practical explorations have unearthed two questions for us 'What we are walking for ? and 'What are walking to ?'. Thalaya and I hope to find answers to these questions in the future practical development of SHE WALKS, through the acts of walking, writing and talking. |
